Is temptation sinful?
In
today's spiritual life, when the temptation to sin arises, many think that they
have committed a great sin and they succumb to a guilty conscience, crying out
in distress, "would I turn away from Almighty God." Is temptation
really sinful? No, it is not sinful. Then what is exactly sinful? What does one
do when confronted with a sinful temptation? We will meditate on the answers to
such questions in this Prophetic message.
Our
Heavenly father testified about Jesus Christ, the Son of God, saying, "He
is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." The devil who heard this
testimony asked the Heavenly God for permission to tempt Him. Heavenly God also
gave permission to find fault if possible. In a similar way, the devil tempted
the Old Testament saint Job.
The
Lord Jesus Christ was also led into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
He fasted for forty days and nights in preparation for the devil's temptation.
He became hungry. Then the devil came to Him and said, "If you are the Son
of God, tell this stone to become bread." If He obeys this word and turns
stones into bread, the devil will triumph in temptation. But the Lord Jesus
Christ did not listen to the devil at all. On the contrary, He said against the
devil, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God."
And He won the temptation.
This is
where the spiritual mysteries we need are hidden. The devil speaks to the Lord
Jesus Christ during the temptation. He looks at the devil; He hears the devil's
voice; He examines the devil's words; He also thinks about it. This is not a
sinful act. This is a temptation which has come to the eyes, ears, and mind.
What He
does after this, determines sinful? or holy? It is a sin to listen to the
devil, obeying him and turning the stone into bread. But, if you resist by
disobeying the devil, it is holy. He resisted the devil. So, He won the
temptation. This is the difference between temptation and sin.
Similarly, the devil will talk to us through our thoughts. Inspire us to
lustfully gaze at the opposite sex. The devil will instill in us the desire to
sin. Friends and family members incite us to sin. This is a temptation rather
than a sin. It's a sin if we listen to the devil's words and do as he says. It
is holy if we do not obey and resist the devil.
Therefore, God's children do not cry in distress that you have sinned
because the temptation arises. Don't give room to a guilty mind. Stand in
temptation and win it. You will defeat the devil.
(Glory be to
the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.... This is a precious mystery.
Meditate on this repeatedly, and SHARE it with your friends. It will be a
blessing to you.)
